Catalogue Note

This classic dish with its red-spotted blue tulips and roses can be compared to a similar dish in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (inv. no. 56.69.1). Two of the flowers, a carnation and a tulip were depicted with breaking stems creating a "[...] poignant effect, full of motion, [was] that of a garden in the throes of a storm" (Atasoy and Raby 1989, no.697).
