Condition
Measurements 131cm wide across the top, 137cm. across the bottom, 172cm long left side, 170cm long right side. (slightly irregular shape)
Generally even 2mm pile overall. Side cords with losses, some re-overcast. Original flatweave fringed ends, some losses, corners of flatweave rewoven.
There are some areas of repiling and repair, which are visible in the photograph, due to the difference in colour. There are probably from old moth damage or fold wear; they are situated on the central vertical and horizontal axis. For example in the centre of the top end, there are two irregular oval shaped repiled areas, approx. 19 by 15cm; and 20 by 18cm.; centre right side there is a horizontal irregular shaped strip across the centre (comprised of two oval shapes joined by narrow sections: from centre out to edge of border - (1/2 horizontal oval shape 10cm. high, 9cm. wide; joined by narrow 4cm long strip to an oval shape approx. 9 by 9cm. tapering down to 3cm. high, and then a horizontal strip of 28cm. wide, rising to 6cm. and 9cm. at highest until 1cm. at border; just above this area of repair there is a hole (80cm down from top, approx. 2.5/3cm. high by 9cm. wide) visible in the main medallion near the red motif and within the cream ground. There are two other holes up the right side; one 70cm. down from top, approx. 0.5cm. high, 3cm. wide; and another in the right border: 90cm. down from the top edge, approx. 1cm. high, 2cm.wide. Along the lower end there are two further irregular shaped oval areas of repiling, left 17cm. high by 13cm. wide, and the one on the right 20cm. high, 17cm. wide. On the left side, approx. 73cm. down from the top edge there are some irregular shaped areas of repiling, approx. 4cm. high by 6cm. wide; 3cm. high by 9cm. wide; larger shaped section 4cm. high down to 0.5cm. high by 26cm. wide, and a vertical format cross shaped section 11cm. at highest and 18cm. wide.
In need of some attention. Otherwise in good condition.
