Catalogue Note
This exceptionally long Qur'an scroll was produced by order of Sadiq Muhammad Rahimyar, Nawab of Bahawalphur from 1866-99. He was one of the successive Du'udpotra rulers of Bahawalpur who claimed descent from the Abbasid Caliphs of Egypt (see A.S. Basmee Ansari, 'Dawudpotras', in The Encyclopaedia of Islam, vo.II, pp.185-7).
