- Ink on paper with binding
Arabic manuscript on paper, 31 leaves plus 2 flyleaves, written in 2 sections, 11 lines to the page, written in neat naskh script in black ink on cream paper, the first half sprinkled with gold, each section with an illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, contemporary brown morocco binding with gilt trellis design, with fitted sliding case

In very good overall condition, gold bright and pages clean, as viewed.

Yahya Fahreddin (d.1755)
He was born in the district of Tophane, Istanbul. Yahya Fahreddin studied calligraphy under the supervision of court calligrapher Anbarizade Dervish Ali Effendi (d.1715). He also practised under Huseyin Habli Effendi (Iplikci Huseyin) from whom he received his calligrapher’s diploma (ijazeh) in 1725. He was responsible for the monumental calligraphies of the Nur-i Osmaniye Mosque built by Sultan Mahmud I and Osman III, and died in Istanbul in 1755.
