gouache heightened with gold on paper, 4 columns of text in nasta'liq script in black ink, heading in red, reverse with 25 lines of text, ruled in blue and gold

Condition

In reasonably good overall condition, some spotting, waterstaining to outer margins, some smudges, minor creasing and some rubbing to painting, wormholes to outer margins, as viewed.

While Rudabeh is in labour, Zal remembers the Simurgh and a feather Simurgh had given him should he be needed. Zal burns the feather, the Simurgh arrives at once and advises that the child should be born through his mother’s side (often described as the cesarean birth of Rustam).
