Catalogue Note

First edition of the original screen version by Pereley Poore Sheehan from Victor Hugo’s classic.

An association copy, inscribed by the film’s star – Lon Chaney, who played Quasimodo – to his co-star – Patsy Ruth Miller, who played Esmeralda: "Dear Pat, With all the good luck in the world to you. Lon." Below the inscription, Miller has further inscribed the book to an admirer, in 1988. Hunchback was the highlight of Chaney’s career, and one of the most famous sil𒊎ent films of the 192🌜0s. No copies signed by Chaney are listed in ABPC.
