2 vols. Oblong folio (14 x 10 3/4 ins.; 355 x 270 mm.) Mounted albumen title and 50 hand-colored albumen prints,recto and verso on card mounts, images include occupationals, landscapes, temples and architecture, each image usually titled in the image; minor toning to a few prints only. Contemporary black morocco signed Cather and Houle with silver tendril corners and clasp, cipher "JM" with a winged spur surmount in the center of each volume, silver gilt edges and spine titles in silver gilt; some rubbing to joints.
Catalogue Note
an elaborately bound set of meiji-era japanese albumens. A typed note inserted onto the watered-silk pastedown of one volume giving the provenance of the present as an album presented to George IV in recognition of his interest in Asian Art.
