Important letter, in French, about the translation of Araby, the third story of the Dubliners, to be published in Les Ecrits Nouveaux.

Joyce sends to Dugard the corrected proof of the French translation (now lost) and asks for corrections about verb tense and spelling. He gives a complete correction of the last sentence of the sixth paragraph, with an explanation of its meaning and using the lexical field of the feeling: "[...] 2) La traduction letteral de mon texte serait : "Tous mes sens semblaient vouloir se voiler et comme je sentais que j'etais sur le point de m'esquiver d'eux (c'-à-d, m'echapper de mes propres sens, me dissoudre) je pressai mes paumes etc" Il fait ce geste pour se convaincre de son existence charnel et y rester".
