Catalogue Note

The English poet Masefield (1878-1967) was in the United States for a second lecture tour in 1918, primarily speaking to American soldiers waiting to be sent to Europe. Dr. Philip Skrainka was editor of the journal Medicine and Surgery in St. Louis, where some favorable notices of Masefield's work were published. Masefield writes: "So many thanks for your letter & kind editorial. I'll ring you up in St Louis & try to arrange a meeting."
