Catalogue Note

Rare Complete Set of the first series of 54 travel accounts selected and edited by Phillips and first issued in monthly parts, here with the general- and part-titles to each volume. Complete sets are rarely found as this format was issued only for the nobility and the wealthy; only three other complete sets are recorded in ABPC since 1975. The editor published a further series of 9 volumes (1819-1823) under the title New Voyages and Travels.
