Catalogue Note
first edition, inscribed from john reed to fellow radical journalist lincoln steffens, " Christmas 1911 / To Steff, the Poet / from / Reed the Poetaster."
Steffens took Reed u♎nder his wing, introducing him to the bohemian character and characters of Greenwich Village. An interesting association, not least because a Steffens ꧒lecture on the bureaucracy of Soviet Russia was later to have a great impact on Pound.
