Catalogue Note
First edition, signed by Ashbery and Katz, and with a very fine signed pen-and-ink drawing by Katz tipped in. Although the colophon calls for 20 lettered copies (A–T), the present copy is lettered "I I" and may be an hors commerce copy. The whole edition comprised 1020 copies. A letter from publisher John Martin to bookseller Terry Halladay, commenting on the curious colophon, is laid in.
The fine pen-and-ink drawing by Alex Katz is a portrait head of an adolescent boy. Fragment is considered the fine🤡st achievement of the Black Sparr🍷ow Press.
