Catalogue Note

It was not uncommon for jade figural carvings to be converted into snuff bottles at a later date. The shape of the present lot however, suggests that it was made to be a snuff bottle. Snuff bottles in the form of boys were a popular motif during the late Qing dynasty and are more commonly found in molded porcelain.
