deeply carved with various birds in flight and at rest, a pheasant prominently perched atop rockwork looking to its mate seated on the bough of a flowering magnolia tree amidst other pairs of birds including ducks, cranes, sparrows, and doves all against a diaper ground, repeated on the interior and exterior sides, the base lacquered in black

Condition

The tray is in overall good condition. There are minor touch ups to small nicks to some of the birds and leaves. There is slight consolidation to the rims and slight shrinkage to one of the panels which has caused a vertical split to the black lacquer on the base. There are losses to the lacquer on the foot rim and the base has expected wear to the surface.
