Catalogue Note

Camille is a study for an illustration that was to be included in an English publication of Alexandre Dumas' La Dame aux camellias. This work is accompanied by a letter from the artist describing the work as a token to "mon Johnny" in fond memory of Marie Laurencin's holiday with his uncle.
