Condition

There is an approximate 3/4-in.very fine haircrack to the rim, visible on the underside but apparently not going all the way through to the upper rim; some very minor wear to the enamels of the rim and molded feathers and corn ears. Otherwise, in generally good condition.

Pairs of partridge tureens and their stands are mentioned a number of times in the 1755 Chelsea Sale Catalogue, appearing in the Second Day's Sale, Tuesday March 11th, lot 75: "Two very fine partridges, and a dish for ditto, finely ornamented;" the Fifth Day's Sale, Friday, March 14th, lot 50: "Two fine partridges," lot 51: "Two ditto" and lot 52: "Two very fine dishes to ditto, with corn, &c.;" and the Eleventh Day's Sale, Friday March 21st, lot 87" "Two fine partridges, and a dish ornamented with corn, &c."
