Condition
The panel is in excellent condition considering its age. It is clean and displays a painted matte white surface that is tightly bound with only minor losses along the edges of several dowels. Some of the dowels exhibit a difference in surface profile, which indicates that an area of paint loss has occurred and has been subsequently in-painted. All of the dowels are present and are well adhered to the panel. Minor cracking around the base of some of the dowels was noted which is a result of dimensional changes in the wood and characteristic of aged wood. These cracks are stable and do not pose a threat to the stability of the dowels. Small hairline fissures can be seen in the paint on some of the dowels, which is consistent with the age of the artwork. All four sides of the panel are moderately soiled and show signs of wear. The panel is structurally sound. (This condition report has been prepared courtesy of Wilson Conservation, LLC.)

Catalogue Note
"Like Mondrian, Camargo uses pure means and like Malevich he uses light directly; but at the same time, he uses volumes and lines of direction which exist in three-dimensional space. When it is painted white, light enters the work, de-materializing the volumes into a space to which to the spectator´s eyes meet uncertainy." Guy Brett
