From Queen Victoria (1819-1901), to her granddaughter Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1876-1936), Grand Duchess of Russia, on the occasion of her Christening in 1876. The brooch, known in the family as the 'English Rose', was then passed to Princess Victoria's daughter, Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia (1909-1967); thence by descent.

Central diamond estimated to measure approximately 12.35 x 9.45 x 5.80 mm and estimated to weigh approximately 5.60 carat, in our experts' opinion it is K-L colour and VS2-SI1 clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting. Smaller diamonds of similar colour and clarity. Pendant mounting detachable. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 12 grams.
