Description
- ruby, diamond, white gold, yellow gold
Set with a cabochon ruby weighing 21.40 carats, surrounded by rose-cut diamonds extending to the shoulders, mounted in 18 karat white and yellow gold. Ring size: 7
Condition
Colour and Clarity: According to both SSEF and GRS reports, the cabochon ruby is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indication of heating, of GRS-type "Pigeon's Blood" red colour. Also accompanied by a SSEF appendix letter, stating that this ruby "exhibits an impressive size and weight......, combined with a beautifully saturated red colour and an attractive candy-like shape and cutting style as a cabochon". Please refer to the reports and letter for details. In our opinion, the ruby is of vivid red colour, moderately included to naked eyes. Upon 10x loupe, there are natural feather inclusions, and a few very minor surface fissures which are not seen to naked eyes. Rose-cut diamonds are about G to I colours, VS2 to SI clarity.
Condition: Karat white gold ring mount, signs of wear to the shank, otherwise in very good condition.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that jadeite and rubies of Burmese origin and articles of jewellery containing jadeite or rubies of Burmese origin all less than 100 years old may not be imported into the US. The purchaser's inability to import any item into the U.S. or any other country as a result of these or other restrictions shall not justify cancellation or rescission of the sale or any delay in payment. Please check with the specialist department if you are uncertain as to whether a lot is subject to these import restrictions, or any other restrictions on importation or exportation.

Catalogue Note
Accompanied by GRS and SSEF reports numbered GRS2012-044309 and 73458, dated 25 April 2012 and 17 March 2014 respectively, stating that the 20.40 carat ruby is natural, vivid red (GRS type "Pigeon's Blood") colour, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of thermal treatment. Further accompanied by SSEF Appendix: Exceptional Ruby, stating that the ruby 'exhibits an impressive size and weight of 21.40 ct, combined with a beautifully saturated red colour and an attractive candy-like shape and cutting style as a cabochon. The inclusions found by microscopic inspection represent the hallmarks of rubies from the classical ruby mines in the Mogok valley in Burma (Myanmar).'
