Catalogue Note

Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886-1945) was an influential modernist architect and designer. Man Ray knew his work well having been commissioned by Charles de Noailles in 1928-29 to make a film, Les Mystères du Château de Dé, in his “cubist” villa at Hyères in the south of France designed by Mallet-Stevens.
