Catalogue Note
The Surrealists organized a groundbreaking group exhibition at the Galerie Pierre Colle in Paris from 7 to 18 June 1933. The show presented their recent objects for the first time alongside paintings and photographs. Visible in these images are works by Man Ray, including Non-Euclidean Object and his famous Object of Destruction (a photograph of an eye fixed to a metronome), Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí’s Buste de femme rétrospectif, and André Breton’s “poème-objet” Communication relative au hazard objectif (see lot 108).
