Condition
The canvas has a fine old relining. There are fine lines of craquelure visible primarily in the light pigments across the centre of the composition. Ultraviolet light reveals strokes of retouching notably in the sky intermittently along the extreme upper and lower edges, above the horizon near the left and right edges, and scattered thin strokes and small spots in the middleground. The varnish fluoresces opaquely under U.V. light notably over the lower half of the composition and it is possible that there could be further retouchings which are not clearly visible under ultraviolet light. This work is ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
