The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered clusters of small spots of cosmetic retouching primarily in the background above and to the left of the seated man and in the upper right corner; some further areas fluoresce unusually however these would certainly appear to be the artist's original pigments and not retouching. This painting is in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt coved and fluted frame.
