Catalogue Note
The arms are those of Walter, 18th Earl of Ormonde who, in 1811, was awarded 216,000 pounds by the British Government in exchange for his family's hereditary right to collect excise on wine coming into Ireland.
A set of twelve dinner plates from the Ormonde service by Paul Storr, also 1808, were sold Sotheby's, New York, October 17, 2008, lot 177♕.
