Condition

Very good condition, a few small areas of retouching to the paintwork throughout: to the reds of the right hand pot and ball of clay and the rims of the other two pots, and to three of four small areas to the figure's clothing and some tiny areas of his right hand. One tiny chip to the water bucket.

Catalogue Note

Ivan Alekseevich Ikonnikov rented a small manufactory from V.N. Sipiagin in 1865.  The manufactory's wares were distinguished by the quality of the paste, which allowed for extremely fine detail, evident in this figure's hair and face.
