Catalogue Note
Sergei Mikhailovich Orlov (1911-1971) won the 1954 competition to design the equestrian sculpture of Yuri Dolgorukiy on Tverskaya Street in Moscow. His other monumental work includes the figure of explorer Afanasy Nikitin in Tver and the Belorussian Partisan figural group in the Belorusskaya Station on the Koltsevaya Line of the Moscow Metro.
