Canvas is lined. SURFACE: very shiny varnish, heavy, deep crackle UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: hard to see through old varnish and dark pigments; scattered inpainting throughout sky, on sun and in lower half, much of it for craq. fill-in; a piece of the original stretcher is affixed to backing (two old labels are attached)
