Description

  • gold and enamel
of oval form with hinged lid and polychrome enamel decoration, featuring a portrait of Muhammad Shah Qajar (r. 1834–48) with inscriptive medallions, the sides with calligraphic cartouches on a scrolling bud ground, engraved geometric design to underside

Condition

In overall good condition, notably to portrait, some enamel missing along outer edge of lid and to sections along the sides, underside with some green discoloration and few very minor breaks, interior with traces of remaining enamel ground, as viewed.
