- Italian, Rome, early 19th century After the Antique
Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age, including dust in the crevices. The snake is broken in two where she is attached to the girl's leg, and her bottom section is slightly loose. There is rubbing to the lacquer patina, revealing a warm green patina underneath. There is some very minor greening, notably between the girl's fingers. There are a few dark spots. The bronze is slightly loose on the marble base.
The marble base is in good condition with a few nicks and small chips along the edges. The underside is padded with felt.
