the hinged and extendable top rising on a ratchet with a leather inset and detachable ledge, with a brass gallery joined by an under tier on brass cappings and castors, with handwritten paper label to the underside inscribed J. Lindsey
Condition
A good quality piece in country house condition. There has been shrinkage to the reading/writing slope which has resulted in age cracks and tearing to the leather inset top and lifting and losses to the veneers on its edge, which would benefit from attention. The leather top is worn. The brass is tarnishing in areas and has warped very slightly in places. The lower tier with marks and stains. Overall there are loses to the veneers, moldings and ebony stringing, all of which are restorable. Minor old marks and scratches commensurate with age and use.
