Condition
Overall in reasonable restored condition. There are signs of sun/water damage to the surface of the upper gallery which is uneven in colour and would benefit from a wax. The 3/4 brass gallery possibly later. The handles to the frieze drawers are all later replacements, and the drawer fronts have fillets covering the position of the former handles. There is some movement along the joints of construction with three thin but noticeable age cracks to the right down swept corner of the gallery which have been filled. Losses and chips to the veneers - particularly to the corners - and mouldings commensurate with age and use. The later leather top is attractively worn with marks, burn holes and scratches. The rear left leg has a restored break where it meets the underneath of the desk and now has a supportive metal brace. The is a restored dent on the rear right hand side. One of the brass cappings and castors is loose and will need attention. Overall with minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use.
