Condition

Overall the condition of the bronzes is good, with some dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age. There is wear, including tarnishing, to the gilding throughout. There are numerous nicks and scratches, in particular to the high points. The bronzes are cast in sections and a few original stable joints are visible, notably to the lower legs. The horses' saddle blankets are attached with metal screws. There is a rust coloured stain to the proper right haunch of one of the horses, and there is an area of particular tarnishing around a rectangular area to the proper left haunch of the other horse. The bronze bases are in good condition with minor wear along the edges and a few nicks and scratches.
