Description
- Bozzetto of Ganymede and the Eagle
- terracotta, on a black marble base
- French, late 18th/ early 19th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the terracotta is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The figure is a sketch, and the surface is therefore deliberately left rough. There is a loss to the rim of the cup at the back, and a possible loss to the drapery at the back. There are a few very minor losses to the slip covering the terracotta, including in the face. There are a few very minor hairline fissures, consistent with the firing process. There is a reddish mark to the abdomen. There are a few minor chips, notably to the bottom edge of the base.
