Movement is complete but would benefit from a clean and fresh oil, pendulum rod is chipped and has a vertical crack below the suspension block. Case is lacking lock and latch to bezel, extensive losses and some old poor restoration to japanned decoration, left side door possibly replaced. With pendulum and winder.

Benjamin Vulliamy was born in 1747 and Free of the Clockmakers' Company from 1781. He maintained the excellent reputation achieved by his father Justin, and like him, held the Royal Warrant until his death in 1820. Shortly after Benjamin joined his father in the 1770's a numbering system was introduced which was used continuously until the death of Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy, son of Benjamin, in 1854. From these numbers it is possible to date the surviving clocks with some accuracy.
