Catalogue Note

The form of this elegant writing table with its eared corners relates to two designs by the renowned firm of Gillows,  listed in L Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs, 1760-1800, 1995, fig. 21 and 35. Although the Gillows tables of this type are usually paired with reeded legs, highly demonstrative of the firms output, the present lot is of a more restrained form allowing the quality and colour of the rosewood to standout.
