modelled by P. Reinicke, facing left and right, painted in tones of grey and brown upon mound bases applied with flowers, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, one with incised Dreher's mark // mark for J. G. Geithner to edge of base,

Condition
The bison painted in brown:
The horns have been restored otherwise in good condition.
The bison painted in grey:
both horns are chipped, the tip of the tail has been restored.
Both have typical minor chips to applied flowers.

Catalogue Note
Reinicke's work records for October 1746 list: '2 Auer-Ochsen in Thon zu bousiren angefangenen' [started to model 2 bisons in clay]; and in December 1747: '1 bereits angefangenen Auer-Ochsen, auf der Flucht vorgestellet, vollends verfertiget' [1 bison, which had already been started, depicted on the run, fully completed].
