Catalogue Note

For comparison, see Baron N. Wolf (V. Znamenov, ed.), Imperatorskii farforovyi zavod, 1744-1904, St. Petersburg, 2008, p. 609. Imperial manufactory artists had access to a rich museum and library; the painter of the offered lot obviously relied on a composition of pheasant and peonies symbolizing familial happiness and wealth, probably Qianlong period, and various famille jaune wares in the factory museum.
