Catalogue Note
The arms are those of Count Palffy, Hungary, probably for Count János Ferenc Palffy (1829-1908), a noted art collector. He commissioned a romantic reconstruction of Bojnice Castle in the French Renaissance style as a setting for his collections, but they were broken up and the castle sold after his death.
