Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is a very slight undulation to the sheet, which is inherent to the artist's working method. The corners of the sheet are torn very slightly and there are some very minor and unobtrusive surface abrasions at the bottom of the sheet. The sheet is hinged verso to the matte. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"The addition of text literally gave content to the abstract painting that I was doing—which isn’t to say that abstract painting has no content, but my paintings seemed content-free. At some point I realized that the text was the painting and that everything else was extraneous. The painting became the act of writing a text on a canvas, but in all my work, text turns into abstraction."
