Catalogue Note

Jacques Caffiéri (1673-1755) trained as a sculptor and became the leading fondeur-ciseleur of the Louis XV period. He was made Reçu mâitre in 1715 and was employed by the Crown from 1736 working at Versailles, Fontainebleau, Choisy, Marly and other Royal palaces.
