Condition

In generally good condition. There are some small chips to the edges of the reverse side.

Catalogue Note

At the 1878 Paris Exhibition Minton exhibited a paperweight with this form of decoration with matching inscription. Solon warns maidens against inquisitive gusts of wind, and advises to look after their love-letters, or better still, burn them. The exhibition piece was illustrated in The Art Journal, 1878, p. 199.
