rectangular, crested, leather backed, easel support, with a dedicated photograph of Sir Bijay Chand Mahtab, Maharaja Bahadur of Burdwan (1881-1941), dated Paris September 1926, by Fred Bremner of Simula and Lahore, signed and a Victorian silver frame, Frederick Brasted, London, 1885, containing a photograph of Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery (1847-1929), applied with a cartouche containing his monogram AR and facsimile inscription From A Rosebery, ebony back with easel support

Catalogue Note

Sir Bijay Chand Mahtab (1881-1941), Maharajadhiraja Bahadur of Bardhaman Raj, was ruler of Burdwan Estate, Bengal in British India from 1887 till his death in 1941. He probably met Robert Crewe-Milnes when the Marquess was Secretary of State for India (1910-1911 and 1911-1915), and visited him in Paris in 1926 when the later was ambassador in Paris.
