Condition
The canvas has been lined. There are no extent losses or damage. There is an old, repaired hole in the centre right of the background, measuring 1 inch by 1 inch to which there is visible retouching. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a small number of specks of minor retouching, particularly to an old, horizontal tear. The tear is 1 inch long and is on the extreme left of the painting, in the background, one-third of the way up. There have been strengthenings to the background. An opaque, dirty varnish may also be seen.
