- Three Art Deco jewelled lacquer cigarette cases, circa 1925-1935
- lacquer, silver, enamel, diamants
rectangular, comprising: a silver-gilt case enamelled in coral, Asprey & Co. Ltd., London, 1933, with agate sides, banded with rose diamonds within black enamel borders, the lid applied with a marquess's coronet in rose diamonds, 9.3 cm., 3 5/8 in.; a black and green enamelled gold example, probably American, circa 1925, inscribed: PAT. APLD. FOR, in a fabric pochette, stamped 14k and incuse maker's mark, 7.5cm., 3 in.; and a black lacquer example, Strauss. Allard & Meyer, Paris, circa 1925, applied with a glass cameo of Cupid and a love bird, within a green and blue enamel lozenge frame, lapis lazuli ends within chevron borders, gold and lapis lazuli clasp, makers' mark, French eagle, in a suede slip cover, 8.8cm., 3 1/2 in.
Condition
1. some losses to black enamel and coral enamel by thumbpiece.
2. some chips, losses and scratches to enamel overall.
3. some scratches to lacquer, large chip missing along hinge at back. glass cameo very worn and scratched.
