- A Cantonese lacquer fan, circa 1890
- Laquer,Ivory,Silk
- 32cm., 12 5/8 in. long
the leaf depicting figures of dancers with ivory faces and silk costumes, in large pavilions and gardens, the reverse with similar scenes and medallions of exotic birds and flowers, in its original painted wooden case, silk lined, signed: Volong Canton
Literature
Fans valued by Monsieur Duvelleroy, [for The Marchioness of Crewe], London, July 1922, p. 2 ‘Chinese Fan in lacquer box, good of its kind. The little faces are of ivory, and the dresses of silk stuck to the fan and painted £10’.

Excellent condition, some wear to case.
