Catalogue Note

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was the first Anglican cathedral to be built outside of the British Isles. The Diocese of Quebec was founded in 1793 and its first bishop, Dr. Jacob Mountain, organised the erection of the cathedral. The design was modelled on St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square, London. It was built between 1800-1804 and consecrated on 28 August 1804.
