Description

  • Van Cleef & Arpels
  • gold, diamond, ruby, emerald
Set with six variously-shaped cabochon emeralds, spaced by curved links with a decorative scalloped bezel accented with ruby beads, further set with round diamonds weighing approximately 21.35 carats, gross weight approximately 119 dwts, length 14 inches, signed Van Cleef & Arpels N.Y. 36503; together with an extra detachable link with pendant fitting; circa 1970.

Condition

In good condition. The cabochon emeralds are medium green and heavily included, although they remain semi-transparent. All of the emeralds exhibit minor surface reaching inclusions, typical of this type of material. The ruby beads are medium slightly purplish red and heavily included with minor to moderate surface reaching inclusions. The diamonds are approximately F-H color, VS clarity. The reverse of the necklace exhibits evidence of solder reinforcement to the majority of the links. The extra, detachable link looks as though it is designed to suspend a brooch or a pendant. Please note the necklace dates to circa 1970.
