• the concealed vari colored automaton showing a figure dancing to music by a seated woman playing a hurdy-gurdy, a curled dog in the foreground, enamel background of drapery and rocks • the case in the form of a mandolin, sound board overlaid with translucent red enamel over guilloché with gold floral medallions, the reverse alternating panels of green enamel and panels of champlevé black enamel with geometric designs • the music and automaton playing on demand, activated by a lever at the side, the movement gilt brass with pin barrel music, with contemporary gold and enamel key
