- A GOLD AND ENAMEL AUTOMATON WATCH MADE FOR THE CHINESE MARKETCIRCA 1800
- Gold and enamel
- diameter 56 mm
• gilt cylinder movement with two train standing barrels for going and automaton work, gilt-metal cuvette • small white enamel dial at 12 o’clock • the automaton scene consisting of two vari-color gold figures of a lady seated on a swing being pushed by a youth at her right, flanked by vari-color gold fountains composed of stylized urns surmounted by dolphins issuing water, the water is simulated by double twisted glass rods, against a vari-color gold and enamel architectural garden scene, lever in the band activating the automaton • the bezels engraved with gold leafage alternating with opaque black enamel, the back with blue enamel

Condition
The water is functioning however, lady swings only sporadically, and man is not pushing the swing, indicating that the automaton is dry, and will require a cleaning,
The enamel to the dial with one area of loss at the middle of the left-side fountain. Back panel with enamel restored including a subsequent restoration to the lower right between 4 and 5 o'clock, the vari-color gold with patina.
