Catalogue Note
The nayika Malasri picking petals from a large blossom as her maid stands nearby.
According to Ebeling (1973) an inscription in Hindi on the back of a very relatable Malwa ragamala painting in the Freer Gallery of Art describes Malasri and her maid🌳s as "...having the fragrance of lotus blossoms, and even in the daytime they dream of their 🍌lovers and of nocturnal lovemaking".
